I’ve watched some episodes of Return of Superman. Though you are celebrity and superstar, your lifestyle is simple and chic. You raise your triplet with close attention. You and your wife are super!

On the September 21 broadcast of KBS’ variety program “Superman Returns,” cameras followed actor Song Il Gook and his triplet sons as they made their way to a tidal flat where they would be able to play around in the mud.

In order to move the triplets—Dae Han, Min Gook, and Man Se—around on the mudflats, dad Song Il Gook connected three basins with a rope, creating a ‘Song Gook’ train, which was given the name “Song Basin.”

However, the train ride was did not end up being a very smooth ride for the triplets. Song Il Gook pulled with all his strength, but it proved to be a bit unsafe when he made a sharp turn. As soon as he made a turn, the last basin flipped over, causing Dae Han to burst into tears after falling out of the basin.

Actor Song Il Gook has confessed to having plans of adding daughters to his growing family!

On the September 7 broadcast of KBS2TV’s “Superman Returns,” the father and his lovely triplets Dae Han, Min Gook, and Man Se gathered to the KBS studio with fellow cast members to celebrate the show’s first anniversary.

When asked if the idea of having daughters has ever crossed his mind, Song Il Gook revealed, “I want to have them, but I simply haven’t told my wife yet. I have even chosen the names. If they turn out to be twins, I want to name them Woo Ri and Na Ra.”

The names Woo Ri and Na Ra translate to “our” and “land,” which is used by Koreans to refer to their homeland. With the triplets’ names combined translating to, “Republic of Korea, hurray,” seems like Song Il Gook would like to continue the tradition of giving their children meaningful names.

Right after the confession, the actor explained, “My mother-in-law, I am sorry.

This is only my personal dream.” :) :(

On the August 10 episode of KBS 2TV’s “Superman Returns,” actor Song Il Gook reminisced about the difficulties that his three sons experienced when they were babies.

While lying down on their backs, the father and sons were looking at photos of the young boys that were projected on the ceiling. Looking at each photo, the Song Il Gook and the boys had some fun distinguishing who’s who in the picture.

While looking at photos of Man Se, Song Il Gook asked his youngest child who was born a with a very low birth weight, “Man Se, did you know how worried we were when you were born?” While the father was absorbed in reminiscing about the time when his precious little boys were born, the kids got a little bored and showed dissatisfaction at their father’s story-telling time. Song Il Gook then laughed and said, “Okay, shall we just watch Pororo?”

During the interview with the producer, Song Il Gook talked more about his son Man Se who was very light and little when he was born. “He was born weak at 1.8 kgs (3.9 lbs). We were so worried that we had his hearing ability re-tested twice or thrice.”

Dae Han, the oldest of the triplets, also had a hard time, revealed Song Il Gook. “Dae Han also had to endure eight months at the bottom (of his brothers in the womb). He really endured that position well so the other two could have better positions and because of that, we treated him as the older brother of the two,” revealed the actor.

“Min Gook had serious atopy and because of that, we’ve had a lot of sleepless nights to keep watch of him because he continuously scratched himself,” added Song Il Gook.

Triplet sons give Song a new image :)

Actor Song Il-gook lifted the curtain on the second act of his acting career

recently with a departure from the highly masculine roles in TV dramas such

as “Jumong” (2006) and “A Man Called God” (2010), which have made his

career since his debut in 1998.

He now shows a more mellow and caring side after he joined the KBS variety

show “Return of Superman”. He came onto the show with his boy triplets,

and started to show a more paternal image. He’s also fun, like the enjoyable

    uncle next door.

The change of image will be seen in his other works. “Entangled”, his first

movie in 10 years, was released yesterday. He plays a weak, collapsing man

who faces a breakdown of his family.

“I’m more relaxed these days, or at least that’s what my acquaintances told

me recently”, said Song in a recent interview with Ilgan Sports, an affiliate

    of the Korea JoongAng Daily.

“Ten years ago I was more frigid, but the current version of myself knows

how to make a joke. These are the changes I have gone through after I got

married and had children”, Song said.

    Q. Was it a hard decision to take part in the variety show?

    A. I really sat on the idea. My wife strongly opposed it. Now I’m glad that I

decided to do this and my wife now supports it greatly as well. On her end,

it’s like getting a vacation every three weeks. The best thing is that I can do

lots of things with my children. It’s more difficult than you can imagine

carrying three children around. I feel like I could even survive an adventure

in the Amazon jungle if I had only one kid. I’m so delighted that I can have

some special moments with my children through the program. It allows my

children and me to build some good memories.

Didn’t you worry about your children being exposed to the public?

Of course I worried. If they were at an age when they would realize they

were on TV, I wouldn’t have decided to do it. Fortunately, the children are

about 30 months old and they don’t acknowledge such an idea yet.

I was worried if the children would be under a lot of stress. But, once the

    filming started, such worries disappeared.

How much time do you spend with your children besides filming the program?

On weekdays, we get help from a babysitter. I try to do my best to stay with

the children when not working. If there’s nothing special scheduled, I spend

weekends with the kids. Before they turned 1, my wife admitted that I did

    most of the childcare.

Don’t the kids look for their mom during filming?

Fortunately no. I’m not lying, but I think the children like me more than their

mom because I try to brainwash them [by making them repeat they like me

more]. Also, their mom is a full-time worker and my schedule [is more

    flexible than hers].

Did you really mean it when you said you could raise them to become celebrities?

I meant to say that I want to support my children’s decisions. It doesn’t

matter what career paths they choose, I just want them to be healthy.

    Don’t you want a daughter?

I really do. When I first got married, I really dreaded having a boy because I

was scared the kid would be just like me. I was a mess in my 20s and early

30s, and I don’t even want to remember those times.

How do you feel about being looked at as a very sweet father figure?

I have formed a better public image. I tried looking for comments about

myself online, and I didn’t really have a very good reputation. I didn’t know

that my public image was so bad in the past. I might have lost some charm

from the characters I played in previous dramas, but I’m think I’m earning something better now.

Song Il-gook, “I have to do what’s needed to raise triplets

Actor Song Il-gook joked, “I have three boys. I don’t have the luxury of

    choosing what I want”.

Song Il-gook was interviewed by TV Daily on the 3rd about his

    movie “Entangled”.

Song Il-gook said, “Being the father of triplets, I really don’t have a choice.

Also, being an actor means I am chosen to be one. I think I should do

whatever role that is being offered to me”.

Prior to the interview at the press conference, Song Il-gook said, “I promised

my wife I would help to take care of the kids for a year after they were born.

Seriously, not one job was offered to me during that year”.

“I can do whatever character. I wish that many scenarios would come to me.

    I won’t spare bones”.

“Entangled” is about a serious mistakes Soon-im (Kim Yeong-ae) makes and

the harm it brings to her life.

Song Il-gook takes on the role of Sang-ho who suffers from being lethargic

in front of his family’s agony.

Starring Song Il-gook, Kim Yeong-ae, Do Ji-won, Kim So-eun and

more, “Entangled” will be released on the 6th.
